I found my P4 system the other day without any screen. I started in safe
mode, removed the Nvidia N5200 device (MSI), restarted and it loaded the WXP
drivers. After many tries, i went and upgraded to an N6200 (ASUS) and
encountered the same problem. Everytime I try to load the Nvidia drivers (CD
or web), i get the same black screen. i'm beginning to suspect a hardware
issue with any onboard video controllers that my Intel 845 board might have.
Other hardware:
- Dell 19" monitor (using the DVI connection)

any thoughts?
