Thanks for the info!  I've ordered the Mcount frequency counter and I'll 
start looking for a used 209 analyzer.

bob,
there is NO VCO in the MCount!
it is just a morse output counter.
We  left the MCount external to the analyzer i our design so the counter can 
still
be used for other purposes.  We built the VCO into the analyzer as it has to
be connected to the 209's meter and power supply.

Hope that clear is up, otherwise wait for the article.
