You can also cut off the excess wire after you've pushed the ends through
the holes and tightened the knobs.  You won't get into any trouble as long
as the ends of the wires don't touch each other, or touch the case of the
supply.  You could also get a couple of banana plugs and attach them to the
ends of the wires.  Then you could push the plugs into the holes in the
front of the binding posts (also known as knobs).  That approach would give
you quick disconnects without the danger of shorting anything out.
