I notice Icom does that, they put the mic and headphone jacks on the radio 
head which is a great idea. I don't use the 706 with the head detached, but 
if I ever was to set that up mobile, I think that is a very important 
feature, makes mounting a lot easier. I've been guys who have to plug the 
mic in to the radio while mobile and it really ends up with not as neat a 
setup.
