Hi Fred,
There are lots of good antenna tuners out there. I'm using the MFJ 986 as
it has a good low loss ballon in it. The 989D and the 976 are also very
good roller inductor tuners. Mfj also makes a new line of automatic antenna
tuners call the 993B and 994B but these are the relay type tuners and I
don't think they are very efficient, though I haven't compared them side by
side to my 986.
I have an RF Applications T2000 cw watt meter that can help with tuning.
But, I use the Vectronics VEC512 noise bridge which I like a lot better.
When you null out the pulsing noise, the swr is almost always 1-1 and I
don't have to worry about covering up someone with an on-the-air signal to
tune up my tuner.

Subject: external antenna tuner.

Hi Bob,

I saw a post from you a couple weeks ago on the blind-hams list concerning
your use of an external antenna tuner rather than an internal one, any
suggestions as to which one you might recomend and how you tune it?
