Earlier today someone posted a link to an interview with Thomas Blaikie,
another Briish "etiquette expert" in the style of Lynne Truss, who is
famous for being intolerant of gluten intolerance. Blaikie, too, had
unnecessary and unkind things to say about those of us with special dietary
needs.

This man was interviewed in the hopes of selling his new book on manners.
Read the write-up, listen to the interview, and see what you think. I
suggest if you agree rudeness about special diets for medical needs is
unacceptable, you make it clear to NPR that you won't be buying his book,
and you won't be supporting their stations if they continue to air such
unnecessary nastiness. Isn't it time for a story on the challenges and
prejudice that celiacs face?

And remember, Blaikie wants to sell his book. After you've read up him and
his views, why not write a review on Amazon or other book sellers sites,
and tell the world your side of the story?

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=6470239 for the story
that aired on NPR.
