I had an awful case of what you describe all over my arms, particularly
concentrated around the elbows, this past winter. I also had terrible dry areas
around my eyes that tended to swell up, with the skin getting very red, itchy,
and weepy (I had to stay home once or twice because I could barely open my eyes
- they looked like I had no lids, and the whole area around them was full of
liquid). I had no idea about my hyperthyroid then, so the dermatologist - who
had no real idea what was going on - treated me with an opthalmic
hydrocortisone and anti-fungal creams, and an antihistimine and antibiotic.
Things finally cleared up using that combination, but I'm rather annoyed because
I have no idea *which* of the treatments did the job, or whether the condition
was at all related to the Graves' I was later diagnosed with.
