Re: confused with results
Rebecca,
I feel so sorry for you, as I can really relate. I went through the exact
same thing that you are going through after my children were born (2 one
year apart). My condition only went undiagnosed for four years, though. I
finally diagnosed my own condition and asked the doctor to confirm. My T-4
lab results were fairly close to yours (just a touch lower). But, the lab
relusts that you received are not "normal". Your TSH is low, which should
show that the T-4 is in the upper range (but it's not). Something's
obviously wrong. Have thyroid levels done again. Some foods, etc. can mess
with the results. Also, some people who have hypothyroidism cycle (i.e.,
one week it may be "low normal" and the next week it may be "below normal").
If your GP won't redo the tests, you need to find an internist or endo,
even if you need to leave town. Believe me, it will be well worth the trip.
Also, since your symptoms are so close to mine, you might be interested in
knowing that I did not do well on Synthroid or equal. My body does not
convert T-4 to T-3 very well. I have recently switched to Armour Thyroid
and I feel "alive" again.
Good luck and

P.S. Don't let the doctors get you down. It's not your fault that they
can't figure out what's wrong. Keep your spirits up - help (i.e.knowledge)
is on it's way.
