Maybe the medication has a side effect.  Maybe the weight gain isn't only
the low thyroid.  Maybe the tireness that comes with low thyroid keeps you
from exercising.  It's to easy to place blame on one factor when there is a
lot going on. The thyroid regulates about everything in the body.  Maybe
these synthetic medicines don't replace everything they should.  There are
a lot of maybes not touched by MD's and endos.

This joke is a repeat but since you are new you haven't heard it:
How many endos are needed to replace a lightbulb?
None, since the blood tests don't show that it is dark.
