Elaine,
Thanks so much for the info. You explained it better than the physician
did....am I surprised.....no!
Believe it or not, I am a nurse but since my specialty is mental health I was
not as informed as I would like to have been on thyroid problems. I have
learned a lot and of course will continue to learn. It's amazing how the
perspectives change when it becomes a personal issue.
When I was put on meds for hypo thyroid my TSH was only slightly
elevated....5. something and my tyroid antibodies weren't that high either.
In my opinion knowing what I know now I don''t think that I should have been
put on meds so quickly. That is one reason that I will change docs. I
stopped my meds on Sat, and I feel like adifferent person. No more constant
sweating and heart flutters. I did have my labs checked last week thyroid
profile and it was low normal, so I think I have hyperthyroid symptoms. I do
plan to get to an endo person soon and have all my hormones checked. I am
thinking about trying the wild yam creme for the night sweats...
Thanks for the information once again. I am so glad I have others to discuss
this with and am going to refer my pts that may have thyroid problems and
that may be on Lithium to this newsgroup. Once again I am reminded that
there is so much that I don't know and will continue to educate myself, for
me and for the patients.
Thanks, Saran
