? is synthroid gluten free
I have conflicting information about synthroid-
Pharmacist and doc say it is gluten free. Received an email from someone who is celiac who said it is not gluten free-
that it was GF when made by Knoll labs but sold it to Abbot Labs and Abbot will not promise it to be gluten free.
Also states Levothyroxine from Mylan. Mylan uses only potato starch.
Synthroid is not listed in A Guide through the Medicine Cabinet. The 2006 PDR lists synthroid by Abbot ingredients as synthetic tetraiodothyronine and inactive ingredients as acacia, confectioner's sugar (contains corn starch), lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, providone and talc. 50 mcg has no color additives.
Also is lactose monohydrate the kind of lactose to be avoided in a casein free diet?
I also tried to find the information from clan thompson but was not successful.
I am going on a two week vacation Friday and need to renew the synthroid by Friday or figure out what to do.
I do have an IgA allergy to casein in addition to celiac. I have been taking synthroid for a month and didn't seem to get my usual gluten ingestion symptoms other than a little more gassy which is the typical dairy symptom and could be the lactose.
Thanks for any help!
