Hi.
Frankly, Freedom Scientific gives you only a few basic pointers for
scripting, but most of it you learn as you go anyway. Basically, either
you can program a computer or you can't. What I will say is that GW Micro
does a much better job of documenting their stuff--Freedom Scientific's
documentation is minimal at best.
As for customer input, it's worse than you said. I have gone around and
around on some of this stuff and they are just not getting the message, and
I've resigned myself to conclude that it is what it is. That's why I'll
take all of my toys to GW Micro if they ever incorporate a scripting
language and do a quality job of it. By the way, there is nothing that
says that it is an either scripts or sets choice. Window-Eyes could
incorporate both just as JAWS has both scripts and frames.
I understand creating set files. I've written a lot of them myself, and
because I do both, I can tell you that they have some limitations that make
them insufficient for some situations. And, version changes can break
Window-Eyes just as easily as they can break JAWS. It's a problem whenever
you piggy-back one program on another.
