I am looking for some kind of documentation regarding MSG
manufactured outside the U.S. likely being wheat-based.

Yes, I see it written on just about every list about what is OK and
not OK on a GF diet. But I cannot find any information about it,
specifically, other than it seems to be something that is "accepted"
as truth and everyone continues to pass along the information.

I know there are a lot of people out there who are MSG sensitive, no
matter its source. Please do not write me about that, as I
understand that issue.

It's just that I have occasionally had MSG at Chinese restaurants or
in some Asian foods that I have purchased at the store. I tend to
very sensitive to gluten, and I have never had a reaction to these
foods.

What has made me ask the question is that the owner of our favorite
local Chinese restaurant "swears" that all MSG is the same, and there
is no difference between that made in the U.S. and that made in
China. While we do experience some bit of a language barrier, I am
often amazed at how much he actually does know about food ingredients
and allergens. So, I would love to be able to say more to him than:
"here, as you can see, it's on this list of foods I cannot eat."
When he asks, where does that information come from -- perhaps I can
have a better answer.

Thanks!!
