Folks,
These are some of the responses I've gotten so far. The bottom line is you'll have to make your own decisions. I could not get the company itself to say that the mini's are contaminated, no matter how hard I tried. The representative I spoke with appeared to have a total understanding of the situation, both in ingredients, food prep and packaging. He said that the chocolate does not get mixed together in any way...until the wrapping is on and they go into the bag. (I'm not worried about them being in the same bag with the wrappers on.)

But if you're not comfortable eating them....then don't. Gee whiz, there are surely enough candies out there to make us all fat and happy. Or call the company directly and see if you get a more definitive response. 800-468-1714.

One thing I'll never understand is that I can eat plain Hershey bars, minis or bigger bars, without getting sick, yet if I eat more than a couple of Hershey's Kisses, I get heartburn like you can't believe. Go figure.

Lin

Some responses (other than the ones that said thank you, etc.):

I've read before (I think on this list) that we can eat miniatures that have been bagged separately, but not those in variety bags including also products containing gluten. The reason given was that candy bagged together goes down the same production line, leading to cross-contamination.

Previous posts on this list have indicated the issue is possible cross contamination because the minis are handled together

What I remember is that Hershey wouldn't say that the miniatures were GF because they were all mixed in the bag with the Krackels, increasing the chance of CC.
