I contacted Georgia-Pacific, the company in question re: gluten in paper
products. Here is their response:

 ----------------------------------------

Thank you for emailing the Georgia-Pacific Consumer Response Center.
Georgia-Pacific places tremendous importance on the feedback we receive from
our consumers.

Hi Janice,

I can help you regarding your gluten question. I, too, have celiac's
disease and understand your concern. The bath tissue and paper towels do
not have gluten in them. Gluten is in the adhesive only that is at the
beginning of the roll and at the very end of the roll. I cannot tell you
if/how to use our products however I use them with the exception of the
beginning and end sheets. I have never experienced a problem. However, yes
there is gluten in the adhesive. You will need to use your best judgment.

Have a great day!

comments = The following message was recently posted on the Celiac message
board:

"Georgia Pacific states that the following products are no longer gluten
free since there are trace amounts of gluten in the glue used to hold the
paper together and in the roll sealant: Angel Soft Toilet Paper, Brawny
Paper Towels, Quilted Northern Toilet Paper, Sparkle Paper Towels, Mardi
Gras Napkins and Paper Towels, Soft and Gentle Toilet Paper."

I am Celiac and must avoid all traces of gluten. I am concerned because we
use paper towels to cover food in the microwave.

Can you please confirm the accuracy of this statement, and perhaps give me a
bit of background information about how you get the gluten into the paper
towels.

Thank you.
Janice Palmer
