Hi,
     Thanks for all the responses!  Sorry I somehow sent the message  
without a subject line.  Here are the suggestions in no particular  
order:

Altroids (one vote)

a few capsules of activated charcoal gets rid of the smell pronto.  
(just be aware that it comes out the other side black, so don't get a  
fright when you see your next bowel movement) (one vote)

Chlorophyll tablets, capsules and the like (two votes)

Chew actual mint leaves or peppermint oil (three votes)

Cloves (one vote)

Fennel seeds (one vote)

Fresh lemon slices (one vote)

Parsley (several votes)

Xyltol mints (one vote)

Most commerical gums are GF (several votes) Wrighley website  
specifically cited (one vote)
