Buddy, you are correct about it's approximate age.

The first model I saw was around 1980.

I am sure that its PL is an add-on option, as it was with all other rigs of 
that time.

For the person who asked if it will do echolink, any rig with a touch tone 
pad can be used with echolink. Most echolink systems, of course, will also 
require a PL tone.
