Job Title: Administrative Assistant
Supervisor: Executive Director
Time: Half-Time
Salary: Commensurate with experience

The Action Wisconsin Education Fund (AWEF) works statewide to advance
and protect the civil rights of Wisconsin's lesbian, gay, bisexual,
and
transgender citizens and their families. Attaining civil marriage
equality is a major focus of our work and is the driving force behind
an expansion of our organization. The Administrative Assistant will
help the Executive Director and other staff in the day to day
activities and operations of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and implements services such as payroll, purchasing,
records control & bookkeeping.
- Interprets and communicates operating policies and procedures.
- Answers phones, returns calls, sets appointments, and provides
general support.
- Participates in interview of job applicants and conducts orientation

of new employees as needed.
- Assembles and categorizes facts and figures for written reports.
- Uses various software applications, such as spreadsheets, databases,

statistical packages, and graphics packages to assemble and format
reports.
- Independently composes reports and correspondence.
- Arranges, participates in, and implements conferences, committee
meetings & special events.
- Coordinates the activities of, and provides semiprofessional service

to, Board committees.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work in a fast paced and ever changing environment.
- Ability to work with e-mail, electronic calendars, and other basic
office support software.
- Administrative and supervisory ability.
- Community college graduation (or equivalent) in appropriate field.
- Prior significant clerical experience, including supervision,
organization, coordination, and performance of duties at a responsible

level.

Additional Desirable Qualifications:
- University graduation in business administration.
- Experience and/or significant interest in LGBT civil rights work.
- Familiarity with the administrative needs of nonprofit
organizations.
- Experience with software for print and/or web publication design:
QuarkXPress & Dreamweaver.
- Experience with databases, particular FileMaker Pro.
- Clerical and supervisory/administrative experience beyond minimum
required.
