Recent and almost daily vitamin D studies and news stories have
demonstrated vitamin D is far more important to health and the
immune system than previously recognized. Fat malabsorption in
celiac disease increases the risk of vitamin D deficiency, especially
during winter months with low sun exposure. The following study
shows that UV lamps are effective for treating vitamin D deficiency
when malabsorption syndromes severely limit absorption of vitamin D
supplements. For persistant symptoms of celiac disease, a UV lamp
may be beneficial. I've only found one UV lamp generally available
which is specifically designed to produce UV spectrum best suited for
vitamin D synthesis, the KBD D/UV Lamp, http://www.sperti.com/ .
