Another shake up hits Jammeh's cabinet, as the President Yahya Jammeh
announces a minor cabinet resuflfe today, which led to the dropping of
Works and Construction Minister Balla Garba Jahumpa, a press release
issued by the office of the President revealed.
Invoking constitutional provisions to justify such changes, the President
announces to take over the portfolio of Works and Construction with
immediate effect. Finance Minister Alieu Ngum was also moved to the Trade
Ministry, as the new Secretary of State, while roaming Minister Musa
Balla Gaye, was named as the new Finance Minister. Observers say Balla
Gaye had been redeployed on numerous occasions by The Gambian leader.
Just recently, he was moved to the Trade Ministry, while serving as
Gambia's Foreign Affairs Minister. Prior to his transfer to the Foreign
office, Gaye was also serving as Finance Minister.
It is imperative to note that Balla Jahumpa's name never featured on the
State House press release. The President just announces to replace Balla
Garba Jahumpa. Informed sources hinted that "Balla Garba Jahumpa is ill
and as such could not perform his Ministerial duties."
