Hi Dave and all,

Well, there's been a development here, so I'm going to share it with all 
both for prayer and to show you how the Lord has worked - so sit back with a 
cuppa and pin back those ears . . ..

After our friend had been to this elder and Mike had subsequently spoken 
with him, he told Mike "He was still praying and thinking of us".  This made 
us kind of mad really because all the prayer in the world, if you don't give 
the coat you own, won't keep your friend warm!  But I must not judge and 
must continue to love my brother . . ..  I sought the Lord about my attitude 
and told Him I wanted him to do what He would to bring about right responses 
of my heart and opportunity to ensure that things were put right.  For a few 
days He said nothing to me and I gently reminded Him that I wouldn't 
(couldn't) move until He did.  . . ..

Yesterday I got up early to see an "Urgent Prayer" email.  It was from our 
church asking for urgent prayer as our friend's wife (a very good friend of 
mine for some years before I came to live here again four years ago) had 
been taken into hospital in the middle of the night following a seizure. 
She was still bearly conscious yesterday, early afternoon and didn't appear 
to recognise her husband.  They'd done a CT scan which looked clear.  They 
had made a decision not to perform a lumber puncture but to give drugs 
anyway just in case it was a form of Meningitis, though this is not very 
likely.  They did however find her to be extremely dehydrated and her sodium 
levels (by last night) were still very low.  She was by that stage off the 
ventilator and oxygen and had been able to understand she was in hospital.

Again I have prayed for them though have found this difficult.  There is 
nothing practical that I can do, but I have agreed with the Lord about 
something which I may be able to do later.  Other than this, I am no further 
to getting an opportunity to sort out this situation.

Meantime we asked our closest friend, who bails us out of every crisis, to 
pop by regularly over the next month or so, just to keep other matters going 
until we can sort out some more permanent solution.  We don't want him to be 
involved on a longer term basis because he already carries a large load, has 
a family to support and is not physically as strong as some.

There has however been a further development which we think is significant 
and the Lord's absolute timing is really wonderful!  I'll spare you the 
details here.  (Dave, being up with procedures here you'll understand the 
thrust of this one.)  Finally, after what would appear to be an unacceptable 
delay, bungles, inefficiency, bad reporting etc by our Social Services over 
about sixteen months, we got a call earlier in the week and then a visit 
yesterday from someone who knew what she was talking about, was pleasant and 
kind and wanted us to have the money allowed for us to employ more help to 
meet our daily living needs.  This will take a while to go through and still 
has to get a "Yes" from the high-ups, so I'd value prayers about this.  This 
independent monitary support would enable us to specifically pay for the 
kind of needs to be met which are essential and some have been met by 
friends from church and we have had to do the best we could in other ways. 
I personally believe this is waht the church should be doing, but there are 
those who do not agree with me, so I accept gladly the Lord's provision, 
even if it does sadden me greatly that brothers and sisters will not extend 
their care.

Well, back to the Throne of Grace, please!

I'll keep you posted about our friend's progress.  Oh, by the way, although 
she could not focus on others or recognise her husband, she was calling out 
to the Lord for His help!  Amen!
