Dean,
When you reserved the ip address for that machine did it require the MAC
address to associate it to? Also are you using MAC filtering? Is the MAC
address correct for the NIC of the machine in question?

Russ, you are absolutely correct. The ip address is not in the range
that I specified on the router. When I reserved an ip address for the
pc in the router (to avoid conflict with my TIVO), it did not get that
address either.
So, how do I get the pc to get the correct address? I tried a release
and a renew to no avail.
I have temporarily given up on that pc. A sad and foolish tale is to
follow. So that my wife and I would have the same pc's (makes them
easier to support), I purchased a set of two of everything. (Cost a
small fortune.) So, now I am trying to build the second one to see what
happens. My problematic pc is not together any more, but that
motherboard will be used in a few days, hopefully. I remember when I
first turned it on and it booted, I said a little prayer of thanks. :)
I didn't know what was in store for me the next few days! It has been
one of my more difficult builds - the most difficult, I suppose. Other
things went wrong, too. Driver issues; system restores; etc. The good
thing is that M$ has let me do an automatic activation at least three
times now. My Vista Home Premium was a "full" version that I used on my
old, now trashed, computer.

Dean,
Try to find out what IP address is being assigned to the PC. It should
be in
the same network subnet as the router (I assume 192.168.0.x). You can
find
out what IP address is assigned by opening a command window (Start ->
Run,
enter "cmd", then enter), and in that command window, entering "ipconfig
/all". If the subnet is wrong, then the PC is not getting assigned the
right
IP address.
