Are you sure that's what it reported? 1333 gigabytes would be one mighty
hard drive!
You don't say whether you've rebooted or used System Restore (in Safe Mode
if necessary). A reboot often fixes these problems. Try those for starters.
Do the drives show in Device Manager?
My floppy drive went missing in My Computer the other day for no apparent
reason. A cold reboot brought it back.
You don't say how old the computer is. Could a dying BIOS battery account
for such erratic behaviour?
Faulty RAM or overheating problems can also account for illogical and
bizarre behaviour. Check these out.
Presumably you've checked all the HD cabling for bad connections.
I should think your switch to Firefox is purely coincidental.
