Hi Chris.

I had considered that but was concerned that the radio wouldn't be steady 
enough.  I presume that there is enough surface area on the bracket that 
the radio doesn't try to tip.

Maybe I'll revisit that idea as it would probably give even more air flow 
around the radio.
