Re: "many doctors believe that babies aren't supposed to even eat any solid
food until one year old."
Milk is a poor source of iron, and full-term babies use their iron reserves
from the womb by about 6 months of age. Thus, it would appear that we
evolved to begin eating iron-bearing foods at about 6 months. Unfortunately,
a common practice is to start babies on rice which is not only low in iron,
but may contain phytates which would further compromise iron absorption.
