Mr. Jatta:
I certainly would not pick a fight against NADD on behalf of Jammeh. Oh
no!! I am just being politically correct. It is saying as you see it.
Ofcourse, Halifa's credentials cannot be matched with either one of these
guys. They are, in their own unique ways, recognised and good at what they
do. But if this credentials of his [Halifa's] you seem to be boasting
about, has served or is serving him any good, you and I won't be here having
this discussion. He would have been president a long time ago. How could
you have forgotten so fast my dear brother? Just about a year or so ago,
this intellect was lucky to get his parliamentary seat back for a deliberate
failure on his part by helping to register NADD as a party, not a coalition,
against the wishes and advices of those who knew better than him. I can't
see him any savy than the rest.
But my brother, I will be very glad, infact I wish and pray that you are
right that I will be disappointed come October in that Halifa becomes
president. We are all yearning for changes, but we must also be realistic.
I do not want to sit here and agree with what you say, knowing in my heart
that I do not. You and I both know that NADD and Mr. Halifa are not the
well-known names in the Gambia. Nor is Waa Juwara. The other coalition? I
don't know! Maybe they stand a better chance than the former. Just like I
have said to Ousainou, Ebrima Manneh, and will certainly say it again if the
chance comes up to anyone willing to listen, it is not too late to come
together to safeguard this nation and bring it back normalcy. While I am
engaging the folks on this side, please call on your folks to realise what
is there for us to loose.
Mr. Jatta, some many things have changed, have gone bad and mad, over the
years, and still are. As a young child, news about a person killing another
person in the Gambia comes very very very rare. If it happens, it was an
accident. In this day and age in the country, I am sure you are aware of
the madness that is happening in the Gambia. Since 1994, we have all
witnessed or atleast received reliable information about the acts of
killing. People disappear every now and then. As a result of that, I
think it is a duty, infact a moral obligation for all of us as Gambians to
see that we win come October. WIN BIG to avoid any doubts. The only way
that is done is to present someone who has not only the intellect, but the
name that will ring a bell in ears across households in the country, not
just a certain area of the country. I leave you with that as a food for
thought.
Please enjoy your weekened.
