For a number of issues, neighboring villages or people do have conflicts. Aba, 18, from one of the hamlets decided that something must be done about it, because to leave the matter to grow or hang is worst than planting bombs to explode sometime. In his effort to resolute the matter, he started writing letters to the different parties and individuals.
Here is a letter from his diary-a carbon copy left out of the first letter he dispersed to Troy.
A LETTER TO A FRIEND; PART 1
Dear Troy,
It gives me the greatest pleasure to send you these few lines of mine. I take this opportunity to wish you well in our month of fasting, as it is a shared common faith.
It’s been truly a miss. You are best remembered for your smiles, laughter and your arguments. You know it is not bad to argue, but it is bad when you leave with no sign that you are coming back to Sareh-shedah. For the start, I know you will like it in Sareh-hewbeh, because your happiness is that you abandoned Shawn. You didn’t stay to negotiate a peaceful resolution, so all you did was just to argue with the people of Sareh-shedah and sneak out. It is my humble belief, preachers of peace and democracy must demonstrate it first themselves.
Here it is now, a negotiation for a peaceful resolution.
When one quarrels, he/she must negotiate for a peaceful resolution rather than abandon his or her neighbors.
One must never count favors they have done for others in a manner that embarrasses or humiliates them.
One must never support injustices meted out to others
One must keep to their bond-i.e. ‘word is bond.’
I hope mine isn’t too harsh? But even if it is, that all I am calling for is another chance for dialogue on the same table.
Thank you Troy for your understanding. I intend to reach out to Shawn, Kenneth, Ryan, Brian and all the others. Meanwhile accept my companionship still, despite the latest encounter we had. I apologize I cannot use the words "I love you" because my wife and angelic daughter will be jealous, but that i share sentiments with a great many of you.
Yours ever,
Aba.
Note: The Galleh-type satire to be continued…
