Brother Sidibeh,
Thank you for giving credit where it is due.
However, for you to label me as someone who fails to realize that our nation was on the brink of a democratic revolution and what demolished those hopes and dreams was the pathetic fight over who should lead the opposition is doing me disservice. I think that even the moles under the rocks weree aware of this sad fact.
However, here again, we must give credit where it is due by examining all the exchanges between all the parties in the process of trying to forge a unified opposition coalition and we will find that some of the players were not going to stand in the way of progress while others did exactly just that. This is why I say that we need to dissect the situation so that we do not just deal in generalities and lump blame where it may not belong. That will not help us in this process.
An important point is that even at the last hour when the people still held hope that something can be forged between NADD and the UDP/NRP alliance, invitations that were extended were turned down so we will never know what could have transpired and who would have made sacrifices for the good of the nation, will we?
However, we must not deny those whose words and actions throughout the process showed their courage and willingness to do whatever was necessary for the sake of the nation their due credit.
There was also the issue that it was imperative to make sure that with any agreement that was reached, checks and balances were part and parcel of it in order to avoid the possibility of any leader perpetuating themselves in power. To work all that out required patience, selflessness and putting the interest of the people and the nation first and the sad fact is that some people in both their actions or inaction and words failed us miserably in that process and we have to be willing to identify and accept that in order to be able to move forward.

Subject: SV: SV: CALL for THE RESIGNATION of ALL Opposition leaders
Sister Jabou Joh,
Yes, this time I failed to credit Mr. Halifa Sallah for what he has done.
But Mr. Sallah knows, and I guess you probably know, that for a good part of
twenty years, that is exactly what I did: praising and crediting Sallah and
all PDOIS for their historic, self-effacing sacrifices towards national
liberation. Not only that. Since the mid-eighties, I, together with many
other Gambians, on several occasions, have worked (physically, both
individually and as a member of an organisation) to raise funds on behalf of
PDOIS. Twice in those twenty years, I publicly criticised PDOIS.
What you and others seem not to see is the fact that here was a nation on
the brink of a democratic revolution(!) and all that demolished that
historic project is nothing more severe than pathetic, petit bourgeios
trivia: who should lead the Opposition!
Many thanks,
Brother modou sidibeh
