I have been eating Bobs g/f Mighty Tasty Hot Cereal. I have never
liked oats because of the gooey look they have after cooking. They
sell all of their g/f products in the Charleston AFB, SC commissary.
I decided to try the steel cut oats, as the ones marked g/f are new here.
No microwaving instructions are on the 24 oz bag. I cook brown rice
in the microwave so I put 1/4 cup oats and a cup or more of milk and
brought to a boil in 4 minutes. I stirred and then cooked 10 minutes
more at power level 3 which was a slight boil.
They are fantastic and remind me of how I used to cook Grapenuts
in milk so they were less hard but still had a chewy taste. That the way
these oats are. I have a tree full of tame Persimmons so I also cook
one of them in with the oats. I am a T-1 diabetic that has a pump now
so the carbs are 27 for this serving size just for the oats. I have never
eaten any sweet cereals so I still weigh 140 at age 67. I do exercise(walk)
regularly rain or shine.
I still use Pam's g/f frozen waffles to make a sandwich at lunch so try it.
They are better than g/f bread in my opinion & they are easy to store
because the boxes stay frozen. (Wal-Mart quit carrying them)
Oats Warning: Oats may affect some celiacs, it says. I'm not sensitive.
