Praying a quick healing and fix. I can't imagine the stress and urgency 
that must come from such.

problems with catheterising.

The problem was bigger than we imagined for even the rapid response team 
were unable to catheterise me.

The accident and emergency doctors also were unable to perform the 
procedure and even the specialist on the ward was unable to complete the

It seemed that with all the infections, inflammations, swellings etc., 
over the past five weeks that my insides had become very bruised.

No matter what catheter or no matter who tried, we just could not get the 
catheter in!

Finally, after a blue light job to Sheffield from Barnsley hospital by 
ambulance, the doctor there was able to complete the procedure. Mind you, 
it took 22 attempts.

On eventually being able to catheterise I drained a litre of urine!!!

You can only imagine the pain that I was in.

Without going into further graphic detail, I am now having to use a 
temporary permanent catheter with a small bag attached to my leg.

I then add a larger bag for the night time.

The idea behind a temporary procedure is to let things settle down and 
then perhaps we can look at the possibilities of going back to using the 
intermittent self catheter.

Anyway, Friday evening proved to be very long and the whole ordeal did not 
conclude until 5 am.

I was then discharged from Sheffield on Saturday evening.

Both of us are pretty worn out and exhausted and consequently Rachel is 
not going to church this morning.

It is however absolutely brilliant to hear the church bell this morning.


The Great Houghton church bell has not been working for some months but it 
seems that now it has been mended.

To hear the bell this morning just reminded us that the joy of the Lord is 
our strength.
