London, England June 13, 2006 Ghana's Tourism & Diasporian Relations
Minister Jake Obetsebi Lamptey will be the Keynote Speaker at GPA Awards
2006 to celebrate top professionals & business people. This this year's
annual gala dinner and awards night will be held on *Saturday 1st July* 2006
at the New Connaught Rooms, Covent Garden. The GPA will be rewarding and
honouring 21 professionals and business people for their commitment to
excellence, innovation and their community work and participation.
With The theme "*Harnessing the Power Of '3'- Professional Entrepreneurial &
Financial Skills for Positive contribution"* , The GPA's aim is to harness
its Diasporian skills to contribute positively to their Ghanaian Heritage.
This year also sees the event falling on Ghana's Republic day and the launch
of the *GPA Foundation *to support the underprivileged and vulnerable in the
society. The GPA Foundation aims to support Charities and projects for the
poor and marginalised. The foundation will engage in projects to raise over
1million pounds for the nominated charities and organisations both in the UK
and Ghana. The Nikotech Agels of Hope, Save a million Lives HIV & Aids,
Mission Dine Club and DWIB Leukaemia Trust have all been adopted as
charities to support this year. GPA Founder Emelia Bartels says "Ghana in
recent years have gradually climbed to the forefront of international and
political affairs through the contributions made by its Diaspora. Harnessing
the skills of the her greatest asset - 'her people' will enable us tackle
the Plethora of social and financial challenges and contributing positively
to our heritage"
GPA Business Class Participants Showcased

participants of its new initiative *GPA Business class* for start- ups and
new businesses. The GPA business class participants have undergone 3-6
months free business mentorship and will showcase this new group for their
commitment to the programme

with the "Africa live" cocktail reception with performance by Osagyefo
Theatre group. There will be a fashion show by the grand master of haute
couture Kosibah creations. Enjoy sumptuous 3-course meal with Saxophonist
Almighty Justine. Other entertainment include live performance by Ghana's
newest R&B sensation Kay B, as well as Ben Brako of "Anokum'" fame. The
after party kicks off with grand mix master DJ Zicks. Presenter and
broadcaster Henry Bonsu will host event with Savannah Nightingale PR
consultant and presenter.

The Commonwealth Business Council is delighted to be hosting the inaugural
Africa Small Business Summit on the 10 -11 July 2006 in Abuja, Nigeria.
Working in partnership with the Government of the Federal Republic of
