Weather is an extremely complex system. However there are some logical
conclusions which can be drawn.

If you accept that global warming is happening it means that there is
increased energy entering the weather system. Whilst this by itself does not
necessarily mean that MORE hurricanes will happen, it does mean that any
tropical storms which do develop have a greater chance of absorbing more
energy and so developing into a monster.

There is no conclusive proof - just compelling indications. Interesting piece
