cable plugs in to the comm port on the computer or USB if you spend the 
extra $$ for that, and the head phone jack on your radio, speaker jack what 
ever you want to call it, that's about all the cable is. Personally, I 
wouldn't spend the extra money for the USB cable, if you need USB as I do on 
my laptop, you can get a serial cable and a USB to serial adapter that you 
can use with more than just that radio for the same price though RT systems 
has a USB to serial converter with a better price on it that is just as good 
as anything else out there I think.
