Hi Colin & Everyone;

I use the Panasonic 5240M.

That is the model number of the base unit.

The handsets are the 520m and I have one with a clock radio and the model
number is the 523m.

The work great!

Their is no difference between the handset that comes with the clock radio
and any other extendable handset that they sell for this 5.8gig unit.

However, the clock radio has a charging stand for the phone.

Also, the clock radio has 5 preset buttons and they can be use for both am.
and fm. stations.

The only thing that talks on the phone is the talking caller id.
