probably not if the lithium battery is gone. That's replaceable too I 
believe. Seems to me it's on the PC board behind the space bar but don't 
quote me on that.

Yes, Steve.  That might have been the problem.  I didn't know if there was
such a battery in there.  Anyway, I think it might have been all right if I
had remembered to tell them to put a power supply on it.
