AGERA RESPONDS TO JULY FOURTH CONCERNS
July Fourth 2007 is behind us, and AGERA and the entire Gambian community in Atlanta are yet again very proud of the success of this year July fourth. The entire program was successful, peaceful and has yet again brought thousands of Gambians all over the USA, Europe and other parts of the world together and celebrated our heritage, culture and our unique Gambianess in a foreign land. AGERA would like to thank all the soccer teams traveling from distant places, cultural performers who once again reminded us the beauty of being a Gambian; individual Gambians who take this annual event as an opportunity to build and maintain this important nexus within our Gambian family. We are looking forward to seeing you back in Atlanta in 2008.
AGERA has decided to put out a press release, in order to respond to a community concern and reaffirmed to all Gambians that we have heard your concern. Your concern about our price structure, especially at the Sunday picnic for not being family friendly was heard loud and clear. We are going to revisit the decision, and will do whatever it takes to make it right in the future. It is without a doubt, as decision makers and organizers of the July fourth, we are indeed confront with huge expenses to a program of this magnitude, and thus the reality to the price structure... But, on hindsight, the Sunday picnic is a family affair, and the price without a doubt should be very family sensitive and to be made accessible to Gambians in a very reasonable manner.
AGERA heard your concerns, and has discussed the issue at the executive level, and would like to assure you that your concern is our concern, and we will work as hard as possible to make it right. To start with, we are having a free family picnic – a back to school event. This will give the community an opportunity to talk to us directly, ask questions and put your concerns and questions to the organizers of the July Fourth... On the other hand, this will also give AGERA the opportunity to talk to you, furnish you with financial statements, and ultinmately show you how your money is spend on a yearly basis. AGERA is committed to make the July fourth a community affair, and all your contribution and support are always paramount to the success of anything that we do. We welcome all your criticisms, suggestions, and ultimately the direction of this important Gambian event – July fourth. Please, send all comments to our web site agera-gam.org.
Thanks
AGERA
