OK. I've been off work due to the summer, but geesh busy nonetheless but
wanted to update you on my nephew. Last weekend we went to a cabin his
fiance's grandparents own... nice place on a lake. Andy's brother
graduated high school and had a birthday almost simultaneously so they had
a little party for him at the lake. Andy is doing great. he's walking,
talking, went for a boat ride, is very much himself. he has some
difficulty with some terms like he was talking about a battery on a
charger for the boat but kept saying cell phone battery. Stuff like that.
He knows he does this and just says... "Well you know what I mean". Other
than that he is doing fabulous. They figure at the very longest he'll be
in the rehab for five months due to his upcoming surgeries in July to work
on his skull and etc. He is in the advanced area of the rehab place, the
area where folks are getting ready to go home. he can walk to the gas
station and store on his own and etc. so he's established trust in the
staff that way. Hard to believe it's only been 7 and a half weeks or so
since he was laid out on the pavement not expected to make it to the local
hospital, and here he is up and around and doing great. he can go home on
weekends now too which is a 2.5 hour trip from where he is at. So that's
the update. I believe he has an appointment July 19 for either surgery or
a consultation on when he'll actually have the surgery, I didn't get
which. He was to see the eye doctor too to get his contacts again. So
there ya go and I sure do appreciate the prayers for him.
