On July 27, 2006, Representative Nita Lowey introduced H.Con.Res. 457, which
supports May as Celiac Awareness Month, and calls for increased federal
funding for celiac research.
Rep. Lowey has also been a driving force in Congress to require allergen
labeling on foods products.
Thanks to her leadership, Congress passed the Food Allergen Labeling and
Consumer Protection Act in 2004.
The American Celiac Disease Alliance applauds Rep. Lowey for her continued
efforts to raise awareness about celiac disease, and for her support of our
community.
