Can't say that this has any connection because I am not in the medical
profession but I have experienced the same thing with my thyroid. I woke up
at 1:30 am one night to go to the bathroom and while I was on the john my
thyroid swelled so that I looked like I had swollowed a golf ball. Talk
about terror.
I read in one of my books that thyroiditis (which the symptoms were
discribed to a tee in the book) could be the sign of diabetes and a few
other things - pregnancy among them. Well, I had periods of swelling and
soreness for almost two years. My tests were normal. I found this ASK DR.
WEIL on the net and typed in thyroiditis. What I read it said to lose
weight. Then about 9 months ago I was diagnosed with diabetes type 11.
Since I have been cutting out sugar and regulating my blood sugar by diet
alone, my thyroid has gone down to a point where I don't even see it, I have
no more pain and I have more energy.
I had an appointment with my doctor this past Monday and called him on
Friday for the results. He said my thyroid was fine as well as a lot of
other things had improved. I'll know my self what it is in about an hour
because I am going to walk over there to pick up a copy of my blood work
results.
I will also say this. When I was diagnosed with diabetes my doctor gave me
a diet and my blood sugar was going up up and up. I finally went to a
diabetes dietition which I paid for myself and my sugar was down from the
next day. The last two weeks I have been totally in the normal zone. And
loving it.
