One type of resource many don't know of are low vision clinics.
These exist at some teaching hospitals and other large eye
centers.  Sorry I don't know where except here in the S.F. bay
area.

The good ones have ophthalmologists and optometrists who
specialize in knowing all the tricks of the low vision trade.
This is beyond what medecine does to correct medical problems.
More like what to do with what you have left.

As we all know too well, your average ophthalmologist and/or
optometrist hasn't a clue about dealing with low vision, but some
of these specialists are great and very practical.

So, after your eye doc gives up on you, go to your nearest
teaching eye hospital and see if they have a low vision clinic

Mary, you might find someone from such a clinic willing to come
give talks to your workshop which could enhance your allready
high degree of knowledge.
