whole seeds will not be digested and will pass straight through you.
This is nature's version of the seed drill. Basically, seeds evolved so
that animals would eat them, not digest them (At least not all of them,)
and then plant them somewhere else along with a generous donation of
fertilizer. In this day and age, however, flax seed is a little
expensive to just pass, and you don't get the purported benefits of the
fiber unless it actually dissolves.
