I'm not a normal weight Paleo person, but I thought
I'd share my information anyway. Number one, just
because someone works out a lot and is a normal weight
doesn't mean they are healthy.
It's thought that obesity is an immune system response
from the foods we eat that our immune system can't
handle. Some immune systems respond with high blood
pressure, some with obesity, some with cancer, etc. or
a combination of things.
Now, when I was pregnant with my son I had problems
with my blood pressure. I had to go into the doctors
office three times a week to be monitored and had my
blood pressure checked zillions of times.
I tried to do a low carb pregnancy but my cravings
were out of control from falling off the wagon and
never fully getting back on. So what would happen is
I would go into the doctors office and I would have
high blood pressure.
The doctors would freak and tell me they were going to
put me on bed rest and admit me to the hospital. I
needed to work through my pregnancy, so this would
always give me a kick in the butt. So I would spend a
week on low carb, and after a week my blood pressure
would be down by 20-30 points.
So then the doctors would relax, and then I'd fall off
the wagon for another week and my blood pressure would
go up again. I spent like one week low carb, and one
week high carb cycling for about five months. I just
had the worst time sticking to the diet.
Over and over again I saw my blood pressure go up and
down, depending on whether I ate low carb that week or
not. When I would get the numbers down, the doctor
asked me how I did it. I said "I ate right this
week".
Don't ask me why I could manage a week and not more, I
guess that's just how it went for me. Anyways, that
is my experience.
