Trisha,

Check into VR anyway. I graduated from high school with a 3.5, was
student body president, and my dad was a surgeon, so money wasn't a huge
issue when I went to college. As far as rehab needs through VR, I got
help with AT that wasn't covered by insurance, and some help with
tuition and books.

As a matter of fact, when I started at UW in the fall of '79, the first
disability services coordinator had started a week before I went down
for registration. He saw me waiting to register and said "Who are you?!
I need to know about you!" He introduced me to the VR counselor,
because we thought that our family income was too high, so hadn't
checked into it.

An unreasonable man (but my wife says that's redundant!)

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one
persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all
progress depends on the unreasonable man.

Hi

Wow, I am sorry. Regretably, I can't walk - I work 4 jobs, so the
timimg is critical. I'm sure in a few days I will feel more the thing.
And I saw car for sale for $2000, so I may get that one and put the
reast of the insurnce money in the bank as a buffer.

Amber rides the bus and subway. We have never looked into VR - not
sure Amber would qualify - She is very able and I make too much money.

Trisha,

I totalled my car in April and even though no one was hurt, it was
traumatic. I'm sure it was even more traumatic since you ended up in
the ER.

If it helps at all, I felt like it was the end of the world, but
actually,
new doors opened. I'm now relying on public transportation, saving lots
of
money on gas and meeting my neighbors.
So, you never know what and how things can work out even when they look

terrible. I know you know that, but reminders help sometimes.

Sorry if I missed this before, but will VR help with tuition?

And when you feel terrible, just remember how lucky you are to still be
here
after the accident!

Take care.
