    > I was just surprised to see a few references to an oil that I wouldn't
touch with a ten foot pole.

Brenda, if you do a search on canola, you'll find it's been mentioned
hundreds of times in this forum, though not as much lately, until now that
is! :) I would actually be surprised if it didn't come up from time to
time.

***** I know, darling, it's the bane of the existence of lists...more people join and the same subjects come up. Being a mod of a list or two, in different areas...dog paleo, lol, I understand that, but sometimes one has to be a bit patient with the new ones!!! And you are, that is NOT WHAT I MEANT. Sometimes I feel like I'm regurgitating the same crap over and over, (on the doggie raw lists), but what I try to remember is that most people are new to this way of thinking, as I once was, and so I get out my patient cap, lol, which gets really HOT sometimes, hehehe.

It's actually more surprising to see Carrie's positive comment about
butter here in this no-dairy Paleo Food forum, not that I'm complaining or
anything. Most mentions of butter here are about nut butters or coconut
butter. None of the prominent advocates of the Paleo way of eating,
Audette, Cordain or Eaton, advocates using dairy butter. My understanding
is that some traditional diet advocates, like Price, Pottenger, Enig,
Fallon and Ray Peat have advocated dairy butter. There are many areas of
agreement between advocates of Paleo and traditional diets, but dairy is
one area where there is strong disagreement. It's good to get a different
perspective in here so we aren't all just agreeing with each other. :)

***** Yeah, that's why I appreciate your comments and outlooks, for real. Again, I don't eat Paleo, but my doggies do, lol. They like that texture of raw meat that I just can't get past, ask Ginny, my dear friend who directed me here to learn new things...raw meat doesn't gross me out at all, but putting it in my lips and doing the texture is yet another thing. I agree...different perspectives help me learn, bless your heart.

Brenda, you mentioned that you might have read something by Dr. Mercola on
canola oil? Do you happen to know why he's against olive oil? I don't
remember his reasoning. I know you don't use canola oil, do you use any
cooking fats? It sounds like you're like me in not adding much cooking
fats beyond what's already in the meats.

***** No, I can't honestly say anything to answer your question. One of those "long stories", lol. I used to subscribe to him when I had the computer at the store, don't have it now, (the computer), just at home, need to do it again. And I have been pondering that same question/post that one of our members posted this morning, about the different oils and fats and what is the difference. Having nothing intelligent to say about it, I was just waiting for someone else to say something, lol. Sometimes I just "hide and watch", like my Mom always says, but I will answer any question posed to me, I am just not as informed as most of you guys on this issue. The only thing I can say is that if you go to mercola.com, you can put a "key word" in the search bar and see what it brings up.

  Love,
Bren, liking this interaction and learning a lot :)
