I just entered Lorie's email address on <
http://listserv.icors.org/SCRIPTS/WA-ICORS.EXE?SUBED1=NO-MILK&A=1> for unsubscribing.
Hopefully, she will follow the instructions in the confirmation email and get on with her life.
However, I am really baffled by such messages.
So, for your information, here's a short etiquette refresher:
1. If you have no interest in dairy avoidance, don't subscribe to the "no-milk" list in the first place.
2. If you receive a confirmation email, only confirm if you *really* want to subscribe.
3. When you receive a welcome email, *READ IT* and *SAVE IT* for future reference. It contains information on unsubscribing, posting etiquette guidelines, etc.
4. If you were subscribed by mistake, unsubscribe immediately following the instructions you received in point #3 above.
5. If at any point you decide you are no longer interested in dairy avoidance, follow the instructions you received in point #3 above.
6. *DO NOT* start spamming the whole list with "remove me" messages. We did not put you on this list, *you* did, so it is *your* job to take yourself off the list, not ours.
7. If you lost the instructions in step #3 and cannot think of any other way to find out how to get off the list (google "no-milk unsubscribe" anyone?), at least ask POLITELY.
8. The 220+ subscribers to the list don't care whether you enjoy drinking and eating milk products, sunbathing on the French Riviera or copulating with German shepherds.
9. If you disregard this guidelines, expect to receive responses from irate list members grumbling about people with room-temperature IQ and no manners.
Sincerely,
A list member.
P.S.,
Don, can you attach the <
http://listserv.icors.org/SCRIPTS/WA-ICORS.EXE?SUBED1=NO-MILK&A=1> link to outgoing messages?
The populace does not check headers nowadays.
