I assume you're talking about the LDG TW-1.
My strategy is to tune up into a dummy load, then (when I was using my
Johnson Matchbox) reduce power and adjust the tuner. I haven't bought the
LDG unit yet, but am thinking about it.
To quote the manual for an early Japanese sweep-tube rig: "Tuning up for
more than 10 seconds may result in destination of the tubes."
