Hi Lou,
You can either go in to your My Computer properties or go to system with in
control panel. Just select the update tab and you have four radial buttons
that go all the way from automatically installing updates to turning off
updates all to getter. I do want to get the updates as Microsoft Windows is
the primary target for bad guys. But, I also want to know what Microsoft is
installing before I install it. If Linux or Apple's version of it gets more
popular, the bad guys will go after those systems also.

Hi.
How do you get rid of them? Lately, it seems like Microsoft's updates have
been nearly as destructive as an actual cyber attack. One update
completely clobbered a JAWS 6.0 installation, and when I tried a system
restore, it completely trashed the operating system. I ended up having to
do a full reload of the system. And, when Microshaft rolled out the
Windows Genuine Advantage update a couple of weeks ago, the system got
noticeably more sluggish.
I don't really care whether it is a hacker or a cyber terrorist from
Microsoft--the computer gets trashed either way. I've actually started to
entertain the idea of pulling the plug on the Internet as an ultimate way
to deal with viruses, hackers, and Microsoft.
I lived 39 years of my life without the Internet, and all in all it wasn't
that bad.
