Anybody interested in this thread might wish to (re-)read the 1995
survey article by Dawkins "On Debating Religion" which seems to deal
with most of the arguments used in this area. The article was posted
on this forum as recently as 9 April 1999 by Stimson, it (and the
ensuing debate) is archived in the SaC log for April which can be
retrieved by e-mailing the string

Regardless of one's own opinion and one's reasons for it, the article
makes interesting reading, I think.
