Hi All,
My husband, a Natural Nutrionist, advises the following when it comes to slowing down such denegerative skeltal disorders as osteopenia and osteoporosis.
-Ask your doctor about alternatives to prescription medication.
-Regular weight bearing exercise, paticularly in the evening to prevent bone loss during long periods of inactivity.
-He also recommends the following food sources of benefical nutirents:
-Vitamin D -sunlight, salmon, eggs, organ meats, fortified milk, fish liver oil.
-Calcium -dark leafy greens, broccoli, chickpeas, almonds, milk products, yoghurt, fortified milk.
-Magnesium -seafood, almonds and other nuts, whole grains -buckwheat, dark leafy greens.
-Magnese -pecans, brazil nuts, almonds, dark leafy greens, pineapples, legumes, egg yolk.
-Supplementation can also be used, but bodies better utilise the naturally occuring components of food.
