The commonest cause (and easiest to check) is usually overheating. Download
free Speedfan which will report on mobo and fan temperatures.

Less common might be faulty power supply, cables, memory, connections, or
mobo. Any lightning around or power surges lately?

There are also viruses with this behaviour. If they manage to circumvent
your internal a-v they can prevent on-line checks, and so can be very hard
to eliminate without a reformat.
